KABA ENDORSES REFERENDUM 71 AND ADOPTS EQUALITY AND FAIRNESS POLICY
Seattle, Washington – November 2, 2009 – The Korean American Bar Association of Washington (“KABA”) endorses Referendum 71 as supported by Washington Families Standing Together (“WAFST”). In doing so, KABA supports extending equal civil rights to domestic partners. KABA stands by its members that identify with the GLBT community and encourages all KABA members to seek equal rights and fair treatment for all citizens.

KABA Equality and Fairness Policy
The Korean American Bar Association of Washington (“KABA”) espouses equal protection for all citizens regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, age, economic standing,
disability, and/or sexual orientation. KABA believes the principles of equality and fairness transcend political interests and that such rights are inherent to each person. KABA supports the efforts by minority communities to attain equal protection and responsibility under the law and encourages members of the legal profession to advocate for equal protection and fair treatment for all.

The Korean American Bar Association of Washington (“KABA”) was established with the objective of fostering the exchange of ideas and information among and between KABA members and other members of the legal profession, the judiciary, and the community. KABA seeks to encourage and promote the professional growth of the members of KABA and to provide an opportunity for fellowship among KABA members, as well as to provide service to the general and local community.
